About TerraMadre
I'm Rick Hewitt, Founder and Executive Director of The TerraMadre Foundation (TMF). My wife, Maryann and I decided it was time we did more than just recycle and implement a few energy-saving devices. Up until a few short years ago, many, including me, thought natural resources such as forests, water, energy, food and the air we breathe were not only safe, but also unlimited.
Now, we all know better.
Through my log home-building business and becoming more aware of the need for better conservation, I've learned a lot about renewable resources and our environment. I'm proud to say that I've done as much as possible to utilize renewable resources in all aspects of my work. Most of what I've created is beautiful and ecologically friendly.
I also humbly admit that prior to becoming "environmentally conscious" I contributed my share of use, abuse, neglect and disrespect of our planet. I now realize that "Mother Earth" can and will supply us with ALL the resources we need to lead productive, healthy lives. We just have to do our part. |

Well, the time has come for me (and all of us, I hope) to give a little bit back. Individually, we can recycle, buy organic products, drive fuel-efficient vehicles and change how we use electricity in our homes. That's important, absolutely. However, we can make an impact that is magnitudes greater.
That's why we started TMF. By joining forces financially, we can have a much bigger and faster impact on environmental change . . . change that can result in the kind of world we'll be proud to leave our children and grandchildren.

I've been blessed with abundant natural resources that have allowed me to enjoy a good life here on our planet. I want to give more back and believe the best way is to seek the collective help of my global brothers and sisters. If together we can help fund tax-exempt organizations, the cadres of dedicated environmentalists, I believe we can build a better future and restore and preserve the abundance of our beloved "TerraMadre".
